YAMAWA delivers high-precision threading tools based on its long-cultivated manufacturing technologies.

YAMAWA MFG Co., Ltd. was founded in 1923 by Jokichi Watanabe and has been supplying Taps, Dies, Thread Mills, Center Drills, and Centering Tools to the world ever since.

With five advanced production plants, YAMAWA has become a leading company with a high reputation and reliance globally.

With 97 years of experience in specializing in the manufacturing industry, our company was able to create and develop our own highquality products that focus on technology improvement that can compete with other regional competitor countries.

We focus on how every step of production leads to a high-quality product, while at the same time paying close attention to the safety of our employees on the production floor. In addition, we are always trying to improve and update our production system to be competitive with other companies.

Our engineers always bring ideas that help us improve our production and use them in our development as well.

Our products have been utilized in the automotive and machinery industry for a long time. It is very important to create quality tools and that is our responsibility. As an example, if we create unreliable end mills, our products will not have good quality and will not be durable in the long term.

It is not easy to make highprecision tools; it requires technologies and complicated machines.

Our technologies enable us to create an effective environment in the manufacturing site while producing highquality tools. High-precision machines need to be effective in terms of time consumption.

We design our own machinery through our talented engineers.

We have engineers who design and develop our machines and engineers who operate the software. This is to ensure we have what is needed to develop the best production system in creating high-precision and high-quality products. Furthermore, our machines are researched and developed to perform well in producing at a fast rate.

We are currently keeping up with the miniaturization trends.

Although the most popular taps size in the European market is M6x1 (Major Dia.6mm x Pitch 1mm), we create high-precision miniature taps from S0.4x0.1 (Major Dia.0.4mm x Pitch 0.1mm) threads. We respond to customer demands and utilize our capability and advantage in the industry.

In 1999, we opened our plant in Taiwan. Taiwanese people are very friendly with the Japanese, and this leads to a good working environment. We produce a different target of products in Taiwan; it is more for a niche market at a smaller scale, as the plant is smaller.

In 2015, we opened our headquarters in Venice, Italy in order to expand our products into the European countries because there are a lot of manufacturers. In addition, as the distribution of products to Europe from Japan is quite hard, we can be more competitive in price by operating in Europe.

“I worked as an engineer for another company, before joining YAMAWA. My father passed down the presidency of the company with the hope of expanding further into new opportunities through establishing a plant. Switzerland is very well known for its capability to make high-precision machines and its beautiful scenery,” says YAMAWA president Yoshio Watanabe.

“My father was inspired to ask me to open a plant where the surroundings are similar to those in Switzerland and that is why I decided to establish the most automated plant, Aizu plant, in this beautiful location, with the hope of being able to pursue highprecision machines like the Swiss.

By that, I would say that the plant is my legacy to pass to the next generation of the company.”
