New from Point-man Aeronautics is the TOMKEY, a 7-in-1 measurement tool company officials describe as a “GO-NO GO gauge that does all of the measurements required in AD2011-10-09.”

FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2011-10-09, paragraphs g 1-10, applies to more than 200 Textron Aviation models. It requires repetitive inspections and replacement of parts, if necessary, of the seat rail and seat rail holes, seat pin engagement, seat rollers, washers, and axle bolts or bushings, wall thickness of roller housing and the tang, and lock pin springs.

“Some measurement ambiguity is easily introduced because of the difficulty of using a caliper or other universal measuring tool on some of the inspection items,” company officials noted. “It can be difficult to use a caliper/micrometer effectively with accuracy and repeatability.”

Using the TOMKEY is a “simple, accurate, reliable, and repeatable method to determine whether or not the seat rail and roller system is within the limits specified in the AD,” company officials said.

The TOMKEY is available for $85 and can be purchased at PointmanAeronautics.aero.
