An Akron man died Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on state Route 303 in Freedom Township in Portage County.

Dana Morrison, 62, of Akron, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ravenna post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 4:43 p.m., just west of Stanley Road, according to the patrol.

Morrison was driving a Chevrolet Malibu west on Route 303 and traveled left of center, hitting an eastbound GMC van head on. The Malibu went off the road and into a ditch. Morrison was not wearing a seatbelt and had to be extricated from the vehicle, the patrol said.

Andrew Tucholsky, 31, of Windham, the driver of the van that was hit, was wearing a seatbelt and had nonlife-threatening injuries. He was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

The patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
