Suitable for application to regional transportation vehicles, Continental has released its new Generation 5 Conti Hybrid tire line.

The tire line consists of the Conti Hybrid HS5 for the steer axle and the Conti Hybrid HD5 for the drive axle. Both are available in a 22.5in format and have been designed to deal with challenging regional routes that include highways and freeways.

The treads of both benefit from a two-layer construction and innovative Conti compounds for optimized rolling resistance and higher mileage over the tire’s service life. Full-width 3D matrix sipes on the tread help deliver good performance in a range of weather conditions. The Generation 5 Conti Hybrid portfolio also benefits from 20% higher mileage than its predecessor.

For the Conti Hybrid HS5 in 315/70 R22.5, a 0° belt casing has been used for added stability, enabling vehicles and their operators to benefit from a uniform wear pattern and retreadability. Furthermore, a constant steel belt running over the casing in the same direction as travel helps to optimize pressure distribution and increases service life because stress on the belt edges is reduced.

The Conti Hybrid HD5 features a newly developed tread structure to protect the tread and casing from stone damage on the drive axle. Additional protection comes in the form of center grooves with growing cavities in the second half of the service life, and stone ejectors prevent small stones from becoming embedded in the tire’s surface.

The company’s latest tires will be available in Conti Hybrid HS5 315/70 R 22.5, Conti Hybrid HS5 385/55 R 22.5 and Conti Hybrid HD5 315/70 R 22.5. They can be selected from the factory with pre-installed tire sensors to enable the use of connected digital solutions.
